Program Overview
The purpose of the TCAA course, Viscoelastic Testing in Trauma (from a previous live webinar), is to provide in-depth review of thromboelastography (TEG®) and Thromboelastometry (ROTEM®) testing to improve blood product administration for trauma patients.

Target Audience: The Trauma healthcare team and other clinical departments

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the learner should be better able to:
1. Describe the differences between the two common types of testing, Rotational Thromboelastometry and Thromboelastography
2. Solve examples of various derangements in the coagulation profile and see their manifestations on the test tracings.
3. Practice ordering the corrective product for the depicted derangement in the coagulation profile
4. Discover the limitations of the testing methods

Presenter Bio
Dr. Todd Maxson is the Surgeon in Chief and Medical Director of Trauma and Burn and Professor of Surgery at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. He serves the ACS as the pediatric trauma representative on two committees and as the chair of the Verification Review Committee. He is the author of over 70 peer-reviewed publications and has been funded for his research work in the area of brain injury in children and injury prevention. He lectures extensively both nationally and internationally on pediatric trauma and injury control.
