Pediatric TBI: Early Evaluation and Stabilization
Program Overview
Pediatric TBI: Early Evaluation and Stabilization is aTCAA course from a previous live webinar which guides learners toward a deeper understanding of traumatic brain injury in children and provides up-to-date information on current treatment guidelines.

Estimated completion time:
60 minutes

Target Audience: The Trauma healthcare team and other clinical departments

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, the learner should be better able to:
1. Define the importance of brain perfusion and the unique way that the brain responds to ischemia.
2. State the latest additions to the traumatic brain injury guidelines.
3. List the various types of traumatic brain injury and understand their implications to care and patient outcome.

Moderator: Timothy Murphy
Faculty Presenter:  Dr. Eric Sribnick

Presenter Bio

Eric A. Sribnick, MD, PhD, is a pediatric neurosurgeon at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  He attended medical/graduate school at the Medical University of South Carolina, and neurosurgery residency and pediatric neurosurgery fellowship were at Emory University. Eric has a clinical and research interest in neurotrauma: his PhD work examined the use of estrogen as a neuroprotectant in spinal cord injury.  His research time during residency examined the use of progesterone as a neuroprotectant in traumatic brain injury.  His current work examines immune response following a combined injury (traumatic brain injury plus an external injury) and the possibility of using immunomodulation to improve outcomes.
