Join us in February for a webinar on navigating the transition to new registry software in healthcare settings. Whether your hospital is upgrading its systems or switching to a new vendor, this session will offer valuable information from experienced panelists. They will share lessons learned and expert advice to help ensure a smoother transition.

Objectives: 

  • Describe best practices for training during a software transition.
  • List key components to discuss with vendors before selecting one.  
  • Define a timeline to use during a transition.
  • Explain the legal aspect related to a new vendor for the hospital.

Presenters: Matthew Derkrikorian, Valerie Brockman, and Cynthia Mastropieri 

Matthew Derkrikorian: Matt is a Registered Nurse and a healthcare leader with more than 15 years' experience in roles including prehospital, emergency care, and trauma care. He has diverse experience in regard to settings, roles, and locations, but currently has been the Trauma Program Manager at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego for the past five years, where he discovered his love of data to drive performance improvement.

Currently pursuing an executive MBA at UC San Diego's Rady School of Management while maintaining his passion for healthcare excellence, he channels his love for data analytics and process improvement into creating more efficient, patient-centered trauma systems. When not leading healthcare initiatives, Matt focuses on being an active, healthy father and enjoys finding innovative ways to improve both patient care and organizational performance.

Cynthia Mastropieri: Ms. Mastropieri has been the Adult Manager of Trauma & Burn Service at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, a level I adult/pediatric trauma and burn center since 2011.  She has 21 years of experience as a Trauma Program Manager and several years’ experience as an ED Clinical Nurse Specialist, Pediatric Burns Clinical Nurse Specialist and Burn Unit Manager.  She received her MSN degree at Widener University in Chester, PA in Burns-Emergency-Trauma Nursing.

As a manager she oversees the operations of the trauma and burn services to include performance improvement, strategic planning, education, injury prevention, outreach, finance, human resources and the trauma registry database.        

Ms. Mastropieri has presented nationally on trauma and burn care.   She has co-authored publications on trauma and burn care.  She is a member of several professional organizations.  

Lisa Buckman:
Lisa Buckman is currently the Trauma Data Manager at a Level I and three Level III trauma centers for UCHealth Northern Colorado.  Previously, she served as the Manager of Trauma Services for UCHealth Greeley Hospital in northern Colorado, a Level III state designated trauma center. Her trauma career started as an Air Force nurse and has continued through roles such as a nurse registrar, trauma nurse clinician, and trauma performance improvement nurse for Level II and III Adult and Pediatric centers.

Ms. Buckman serves on the American Trauma Society (ATS) Nurse Leadership Committee, is faculty for the ATS Trauma Program Management Course, and participates in the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) as both a Mentor Match mentor and a member of the Leadership and Management Skills workgroup within the Performance Improvement Special Interest Group. Ms. Buckman also serves as a Trauma Nurse Reviewer for the state of Colorado.
