Managing Burns in LSCO: A Continuum of Care (LIVE)
Managing Burns in LSCO: A Continuum of Care (LIVE)

Description:

This interactive panel discussion will explore the challenges of providing burn care during Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) and mass-casualty incidents (MCI). Panelists will discuss the resources and capabilities needed to manage burn casualties when specialized personnel, supplies, and evacuation options may be limited, as well as how burn care priorities may change in a resource-constrained operational environment.

The discussion will also address how to best provide just-in-time training for non-burn specialists.  Through a question-and-answer format, the panel will highlight key considerations for maintaining effective burn care across the continuum from the initial response through transfer to definitive burn care.

Objectives:

  • Identify burn-care resources and capabilities in an LSCO/MCI environment
  • Describe how burn management changes during a LSCO event
  • Discuss just-in-time burn training for non-burn specialists until transfer to a burn center
