The Trauma Program Manager is the cornerstone of the trauma center and in a distinct position from other managers in the hospital. They are often put in the position of trauma program manager (TPM) because of their clinical expertise but receive little to no handover or orientation and often fill a position that has been vacant for some time. In many cases, this exceptional bedside nurse is transitioning to a management position for the first time. Although they may have been an expert in their clinical role, they are beginning a new cycle as a novice in this new role. During this webinar, we will explore the challenges of this transition and identify the key attributes that will lead to success.

Attendees will be able to:

1. Describe the challenges of transitioning from bedside nurse to management of the multiple pieces of a trauma program.
2. Identify the stages and process of moving from novice to expert in a circular versus linear manner while managing the numerous aspects of an efficient trauma program.
3. Recognize the attributes of effective and successful trauma program managers as leaders.
